Lamar offers more than 100 bachelor's
degrees, 47 master’s programs and 9 doctoral degrees.
Within the past four years, 73 percent of Lamar students who applied to medical and dental schools were accepted. Statewide, only 39 percent of applicants were accepted into Texas medical and dental schools.
In the past six years, LU has seen a 53 percent increase in first-time students and an increase of more than 21 percent in graduation rates.
Since 1993 Lamar University's Center for Executive Leadership in the College of Education and Human Development has graduated 582 educational leaders from its Superintendents’ Academy and the Principals' Academy, which provide advanced leadership training for school leaders throughout Texas and the Southwest.
Lamar University students have a 96% summary pass rate for all Educator Preparation Program (EPP) certification tests of the State Board of Educator Certification.
Lamar offers the only doctoral (EdD) program in deaf studies/deaf education and has one of only two master's-level programs in deaf education in the state. Fifty percent of its graduate students are deaf, minority or minority-deaf, meeting a critical need for deaf and minority professionals.
