“After being out of college many years I decided to enroll in Lamar University Academic Partnership to get my master's. I am not good at using the computer so the thought of going back to school after so many years and doing the whole thing on the computer made my heart beat fast! I wanted to have the learning experiences that I knew Lamar would provide but I was not sure about learning in this way. I have almost completed my first three hours and it has been challenging and rewarding because the academic coach is the person that makes it all work. The coach sends weekly letters about class expectations and readings. The coach is very quick to reply to questions. I ask many and every one has been answered the same day that it was asked. The coach is helpful in guiding students through assignments and giving feedback.

I was able to install the CD on my computer, access the course, and start communicating with others in my class within an hour. Although I was a little frightened about watching and listening to a lecture online, it is presented in a way that allows you the option of doing what fits best with your schedule. You may watch just a few slides at a time or take an evening to watch the entire lecture. Having an academic coach, someone I could email and receive immediate feedback from, was great.
